The dates and venues
TAT's October 6 announcement lists the Bangkok celebration for 10-18 October 2026 at Tai Sia Huk Jow Shrine / Sam Chin-Tri Mit Temple. Its Phuket listings cover the same dates at Chinese shrines across the island, including Jui Tui Tao Bo Keng.
Use these as destination-specific dates, not a nationwide timetable. The official announcements linked below are the starting point for checking the programme at the shrine you want to visit.
Plan the stop, then the meal
Choose a shrine or neighbourhood before choosing where to eat. Save the venue's location, check the day's programme and leave room to change plans. Do not assume a restaurant's normal opening hours will match a festival stall's service.
Keep a separate meal option near your route. Our Bangkok and Phuket City directories can help you make a shortlist, but a restaurant appearing there does not mean it is taking part in the festival. Check its own current menu and hours before setting off.
Three questions at the food stall
Ask whether the dish contains meat, fish, egg, dairy or honey, including any sauces and toppings. Then ask what cooking fat is used and whether the stock or sauce contains animal ingredients. A short, specific question gives the vendor something concrete to check.
When a vendor is unsure, choose another dish or a place that can answer clearly. A vegetarian label alone is not enough to settle every ingredient question. If you have a food allergy, explain that separately; a vegan description is not an allergy-safety guarantee.
Visit respectfully
This is also a religious and community occasion. Follow the venue's instructions, keep access routes clear and ask before photographing people at close range. Recheck local updates before travelling, particularly if a ceremony is the main reason for your trip.

Quick answers
Common questions.
Are the festival dates the same everywhere in Thailand?+
No. TAT lists 10-18 October 2026 for these Bangkok and Phuket events, but other destinations and individual venues have different programmes. Check the official announcement for your destination.
Does a vegetarian label mean a dish is vegan?+
Do not rely on the label alone. Ask the vendor about the dish, sauces, stock, cooking fat and toppings, including egg, dairy and other animal ingredients.
