Quick take
Start with your next meal, not the whole island
You do not need a long restaurant shortlist to make a useful plan. Start with where you will be, choose one place whose menu fits your needs, and keep a second option in the same area if the directory offers one. That gives you a next step without treating every listing as a destination worth a separate journey.
The three examples below have different uses: an Asian eatery in Mae Nam, a cafe stop in Lamai and a beachside mixed-menu option in Lipa Noi. None is presented as the island’s best restaurant, a fully vegan kitchen or an open-now promise.
Mae Nam: compare Bao Bao for a lunch or evening plan
Bao Bao’s own website places it beside Maenam Morning Market on Soi 5 and describes a mixed menu with a substantial vegan section. It is a useful option to investigate when that area already fits your plans.
Open the current menu before deciding what to order. Vegan choices on part of a menu do not make every bao, sauce or side suitable. For delivery, the operator links to GrabFood; availability still needs checking for your address and order time.
Lamai: use The Hub as a cafe starting point
The Hub identifies its cafe at 82/2 Moo 3 in Lamai and offers breakfast and brunch alongside a wider mixed menu. Its operator asks visitors to check with the team for the latest vegan and vegetarian choices.
That makes the practical next step a menu conversation, rather than assuming that every bowl, cake or coffee accompaniment is vegan. Confirm the dish and any milk or topping substitutions before ordering.
Lipa Noi: read Alchemy’s ingredients as well as its badges
Alchemy Cafe is at Anahata Wellbeing Resort beside Lipa Beach. Its menu includes animal-based dishes as well as named vegan options such as a chickpea omelet and pizzas with vegan cheese. Treat it as a mixed kitchen.
There is an important label conflict: a toast with honey is marked Plant Based on the reviewed online menu. Ask about the written ingredients even when a badge looks reassuring, and confirm that vegan cheese or other substitutions are used for your order.
Ask one clear question before you order
A specific question is easier to act on than “Is this healthy?” Try: “Can this dish be made without meat, fish sauce, shrimp paste, egg, dairy and honey?” Then ask which sauce or topping needs changing. A restaurant may need to check with the kitchen; leave room for that answer.
If you have an allergy, discuss it separately and directly with the venue. A vegan label does not establish allergy suitability or preparation practices. This guide does not infer nutrition values, protein amounts or training outcomes from a restaurant’s branding.
Make tomorrow’s meal easier too
Open the exact listing while you are planning, keep its address handy and save a suitable place if you want to return to it. Before leaving, confirm the branch, current menu and service details through the operator’s linked channel.
This is a focused starting guide, not a complete survey of Koh Samui. If the three examples do not suit your area or dietary needs, return to the city directory rather than stretching a recommendation to fit.

Common questions.
Where should I start looking for vegan food in Koh Samui?+
Choose the area you plan to visit first. This guide compares three documented starting points: Bao Bao in Mae Nam, The Hub in Lamai and Alchemy in Lipa Noi. They are examples rather than a complete island list; use the city directory to compare other published places.
Are these three restaurants fully vegan?+
No. All three serve mixed menus with vegan or plant-based choices. Read the specific dish ingredients and ask about substitutions, preparation and current availability.
Does a plant-based label always settle the ingredient question?+
Check the written ingredients too. Alchemy’s reviewed online menu labels a honey-containing toast as Plant Based, so its badges alone do not establish vegan suitability. Ask which dishes omit animal ingredients.
Can I use this guide to check what is open right now?+
No. Operator websites were reviewed on October 16, 2026, but opening hours, stock and service can change. Use the restaurant’s linked channel to confirm a time-sensitive visit.
